Can’t believe 2013 is over, I hope all of you enjoyed your year as much as I did :) I started my beauty blog in 2013 and its enabled me to discover so many new products from amazing recommendations from some of you and reading all your reviews too! It is so hard for me to select only a handful of products as there is probably over 50 things that I consider incredible that I have found this year, so I just picked the first things that came to my head that stood out to me as amazing products :)
Here’s what I picked!
Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub
This has been an absolute saviour for me all year round and I'm so glad I purchased this! I've been able to wear pretty much any lip product thanks to this and the perfectly smooth base it creates. I recommend this to anyone that suffers with dry lips, its a complete game changer! A pot will last you months and will set you back only £5.25, a small price to pay for something seemingly so difficult to achieve for all us dry lip sufferers! Amazing product all round and tastes/smells gorgeous.
Illamasqua Illuminator in 'Slay'
This highlighter is incredible and I'm going to make a bold statement and say that I don't think anything comes close to this on the market. I have tried easily over 20 highlighters, including the famous YSL Touche Eclat and I don't think any of them compare to this. I bought this back in the summer in the sale for £5 and it has since been discontinued but its still on the site so fingers crossed they will bring it back!
No7's Shine Free Primer
I actually bought this well over a year ago and only rediscovered it a few weeks ago and I have used it every day since! This now has different packaging so if you're looking for this instore/online I think its all black packaging now, rather than white. This really does work to keep shine at bay, I apply it with my finger tips very sparingly and gently pat it into the skin (instead of rubbing it in) to my T-Zone, chin and forehead. Its £12.95 and you get 20ml of product, which is weird because I paid that for 40ml of product just over a year ago! But it does last ages and you only have to use probably a pea-sized amount on your whole face.
Glamglow's Supermud Clearing Treatment
I discovered this face mask a few months ago and I have used it every 1-2 weeks since. It is such a good face mask and is one of the best products I've used for banishing blackheads. My Fiance and friends have since bought this after seeing the difference in my skin before and after application and have all been loving it themselves too. Yes, it is pricey at just under £40 for a 30ml tub, but its so worth it and there's always offers on too. I got it for £29.99 when I first bought it, then I bought another pot a few months later at full price (£39.99) but I got a 50ml limited edition Glamglow face mask free, so an excellent deal.
Illamasqua's Powder Eyeshadow in 'Justify'
This has definitely been one of my favourite eyeshadows of the year. Its described as a cool, sandy brown and is completely matte, its perfect for them lazy days when you can't be bothered to do anything extravagant makeup wise, I just apply this on its own all over my lids and it works perfectly. Illamasqua's eyeshadows are so velvety smooth and blendable, they really are one of the best that I've come across by a mile. They are £15.50 each but they are so worth it.
YSL's Rouge Volupte Shine in '16 Orange Impertinent'
I wouldn't describe this as orange at all, more of a subtle coral shade, however you want to describe this shade, it is undoubtedly beautiful! Typically more of a summer shade, but not one to follow seasonal trends particularly, I wear this all year round. This lipstick is perfect, its sheer which means you don't need to worry about feathering and although you do need to reapply every 2 hours or so, the colour and hydration is just amazing. I think this formula is very hard to come by and there's not many lipsticks I would put in the same boat as this one, plus just look at the packaging...its beautiful! A very expensive lipstick at over £24, but totally worth it, its so luxurious and the formula really is wonderful.
Osmosis + Colour Brow Gel in 'Taupe'
I ordered this from America and sadly this isn't available in the UK, but these brow gels are all very similar and I wouldn't say this is miles better than some of the others I own so I'm just featuring brow gels collectively in my 2013 favourites as they have been so much better than using powders or pencils etc. Brow gels are perfect for creating a perfectly sculpted brow and they last all day without smudging, they also help massively with taming unruly brows! These are so pigmented and very easy to use, I really want to try the Laura Mercier one, so that is definitely on my list of things to try in 2014 :)
Nuxe's Reve de Miel Lip Balm
Last but definitely not least is the very popular Reve de Miel lip balm from Nuxe. I wish I had purchased this sooner as I think its incredible, the only reason I held back was that I thought it might taste of honey (something I absolutely hate) as honey was one of the first ingredients listed! Thankfully, it does not taste of honey and the taste reminds me of Terry's Chocolate Oranges, so I definitely can't complain about that! This keeps lips supple and intensely nourished for hours and it is a perfect base for a bold lipstick, it stops pretty much every lipstick I've tried from settling into the lines. I recommend this to absolutely everyone, this paired with Lush's lip scrub are the perfect combination for fighting dry lips :)
I could have wrote about so many amazing products that I tried and loved throughout 2013, but I would be here forever, so this is just a very small selection from a very large bunch of incredible products. I can't wait to see what 2014 brings :)
Thanks for reading!
