I'm delving into the world of Twitter and Instagram, I have no idea what I'm doing, on Twitter especially but let me know some of your names on Twitter and Instagram so I can follow you and see what you're all up to :)

My Twitter is: @emilycoulton
My Instagram is: @ecoultonuk

I currently have two followers on Twitter - feel sorry for me, haha. I have pretty much only used it to enter competitions really, so I'm trying to get the hang of it :) It makes me feel old when I can't keep up with all these social networking options!

My First Blogger Event: Premae Skincare Beauty Blogger Event

Last night I attended my very first beauty blogger event! I literally don't know any other bloggers and was so nervous about attending, so I asked if my friend could come along, she isn't a beauty blogger but is really interested in starting a blog, so luckily I had her with me, otherwise I would have probably fainted from nerves! I had no idea what to expect, but luckily everyone was absolutely lovely and I had a great time :)

The event was hosted by Premae Skincare and was at their HQ in St Albans, Hertfordshire; which luckily is only a 20 minute car journey away from where I live! For those of you that got the October Glossybox, you will remember that we received a Premae product in that box, the Harmony Moisturising Smoothie Serum. It was the only product in that Glossybox that was something I would be interested in, so when Premae got in contact and invited me to their event, I was really excited to find out more.

Premae are the world's first allergen-free beauty brand, so all their products are 100% allergy free. I was really intrigued to find out more about the benefits of natural products as its something I've not really put much thought into before. I learnt so much and will definitely be purchasing some Premae products in the future!

Premae's founder Clare Eluka started off by telling us a bit about the brand and why she created Premae, she then gave a demonstration using some of the many products Premae have to offer. Next, we were shown how mixing Harmony serum with your foundation can create a BB cream, I really liked the idea of this and how it looked on my skin.

After we'd finished discussing the products used in the demonstration, we took some group photos, then we got a chance to try several more of the products available from Premae. I absolutely love the moisturiser balms, especially the Supreme Balm (suitable for dry skin), they don't just sit on the skin, they sink in really quickly, leaving behind beautifully soft and hydrated skin.

Another product I was very impressed with was the Balance Rescue Face Tonique, a spray on face toner. I have heard of these before, but never tried one and I really like the idea you can tone on the go. I will definitely be trying this one out properly in the future.

I did have a good chat with Clare at the end and she really helped me and gave some great advice in regard to my skin and skincare. Everyone was lovely and it was really nice to meet some other beauty bloggers and I had a great evening :) I didn't get to speak to everyone as much as I would have liked to, but I blame nerves for that one, haha.

Thanks for reading!

Have you attended any good beauty blogger events recently? :)

Birchbox October 2013

Hey everyone,

After this month's appalling Glossybox, I decided to re-subscribe to Birchbox to see what they had to offer, and I am so glad I did, because the box I received was so much more impressive than what Glossybox provided in their October box.

October's Birchbox was packed full of amazing goodies and includes some really well known brands. The theme was 'Beauty Buzz' and is all about award-winning, celeb-favourite product samples.

So, here's what I got in my box:

So many well known brands! I got five products, a lifestyle extra and a beauty extra. I am so thoroughly impressed with this and this is exactly what a beauty box should be, in my opinion.

theBalm's Stainiac

This is my first theBalm product, I have been wanting to try one of their products for so long, so I was really happy to see this lip and cheek tint in my box. I don't really use lip and cheek tints, but I will definitely try this out! The full size version retails at £10.

KMS California's Free Shape Deep Conditioner

I am so glad I received this conditioner, my hair is in desperate need of some TLC, so I'm hoping this deep conditioner will help me out! This is a 75ml sample, a 200ml full size retails at £15. I haven't heard of this brand before, but I will definitely use this up :) So nice to see a haircare sample that isn't a serum!

Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturiser

Oh my God, Laura Mercier in a beauty box? Crazy! Such a pleasant surprise and with the promise of including another Laura Mercier product in their November box, I am definitely staying subscribed. I haven't actually tried Laura Mercier, but there is so much from that brand that I am lusting after! I don't actually have a tinted moisturiser, so I am really happy I got this. Can't wait to try it out! This is a very generous 14.7ml sample, full size retails at £33!

Dr. Brandt's Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant

Exfoliating is a key part of my skincare routine, as I do suffer from dry skin, if I don't look after my skin with regular moistursing and exfoliating. So, this will definitely get used up, its another generous sample size at 7.5g, so I should get a good few uses out of this. I have heard of Dr. Brandt, but never tried any products before, which isn't surprising seeing as the full size of this retails at a whopping £67!

Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream

I received this a beauty extra. I have heard great things about this, so can't wait to put it to the test. This multi-purpose cream can be used on pretty much everything.

'Egyptian Magic is one jar that contains a face cream, an eye gel, a hair masque, burn and wound relief, a baby cream, a shaving balm and anything else you can think of! '

Sounds seriously impressive to me! Really glad I received three sachets, so I can try out multiple uses instead of just one :) Full size retails at £29.

Birchbox Eyelash Curler

Lastly, I received this as a lifestyle extra, this retails at £10. I don't use eyelash curlers, I don't know if the ones I have don't work, or whether I don't know how to use them properly, but they make absolutely no difference to my lashes! I will test these out, but I'm not expecting any results. Still, its really nice to receive little extras :)

Overall, I am so, so impressed with this box. Featuring beauty, haircare and skincare and some amazing high end brands with generous sample sizes, what more can you want?!

Well done, Birchbox.

There is still time to order your October Birchbox, so what are you waiting for! Also, if you sign up from my referral link, we both get £5 to spend in the e-store! :)

Haul: Sleek MakeUP (Blusher Palette, Contour Kit, Nail Polish, Lipsticks & Eyeshadow Palette)!

Hey everyone,

So, after hearing countless reviews on Sleek MakeUP, I knew I had to put an order in. You can buy Sleek MakeUP from their website here and it is also stocked in Superdrug.

I haven't tried it all yet, but from what I have tried, I am seriously impressed! The quality is amazing for the price and rivals a lot of my high end cosmetics easily. So, here's what I got (sorry the pictures aren't very big, Blogger just won't let me enlarge more than one picture :/)!

i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette in 'Au Naturel' - £7.99

I only ever wear neutral eyeshadows, I don't even think I own any other colours, so this palette was the obvious choice for me. When I purchased this, I was not massively into eyeshadow, but after using this palette, I can safely say, I have used this pretty much every day since! The colours are so pigmented, blend with ease and last all day (even without eye primer)! For £7.99 this palette is amazing, and the quality is so much better than my YSL and Lancome eyeshadows. In total, you get 12 beautiful shades and I am definitely thinking of ordering another palette to venture out of the world of neutrals into something a bit more adventurous! There are 12 different palettes to choose from, so plenty of choice!

Nail Lacquer in 'Fire Brick' - £2.99

This is described as a vivid coral on the website and I will agree that it is quite orangey, but wouldn't really describe it as coral. I have quite a few nail polishes very similar in colour to this, so I haven't got round to trying it, but for £2.99, you can't go wrong really! There are 12 shades to choose from :)

True Colour Lipsticks in 'Candy Cane' and 'Coral Reef' - £4.99

There are 24 shades to choose from and they come in matte or sheen, after looking at swatches I decided on the shades 'Candy Cane' and 'Coral Reef', which are both sheen finishes. I never wear matte finishes, because they just don't work with my dry lips. Most of the shades available are matte finishes, so I didn't have much choice and the two shades I got look very similar in the tube, but Candy Cane is actually a pinkish red colour and Coral Reef is a much more orange toned red. I haven't got round to wearing these yet, as I've been wearing a lot of pale pinks lately (not very autumnal I know)!

Blush by 3 in 'Flame' - £9.99

Sleek are probably most famous for their blushers, and you can either buy a palette of three or a single blush for £4.49. I was originally going to go for a single blush in 'Rose Gold' which is very popular amongst bloggers, but then I saw this and realised I definitely didn't have anything like it. Although it looks very vivid in the pan, with a light hand this gives such a lovely flush of colour and lasts very well too. I am so impressed with these blushes and will definitely be going back to purchase 'Rose Gold'! There are six Blush by 3 palettes to choose from and 11 single blushers.

Face Form Kit in 'Fair' - £9.99

I have become obsessed with contouring and highlighting lately, it was something I could never be bothered to do before, but now I absolutely love the difference it makes to my face. I have been using my Lancome Blush Subtil palette every day to contour and it is perfect, so I haven't got round to trying this one, but I have swatched it and the shades are lovely and also very pigmented too. The contour shade is not at all orangey, so I think its going to be a good one! You can buy this kit in the shades; Fair, Light, Medium and Dark, or you can buy a smaller version (that doesn't include the blusher shade) for £6.49 called the Face Contour Kit which just comes in the shades Light, Medium and Dark.

I have only just received this order, so when I get around to testing them all out properly I can do some full reviews on the individual products :)

The Evolution of The Luxury Watch

Hey everyone,
Today, I've got a really interesting infographic to share with you, which shows the evolution of the luxury watch. Watches have always been popular, but I never knew that luxury watches were around as far back as 1735!

I think watches are a great statement piece and some of the watches you can buy today are truely stunning; Michael Kors & Pandora are definitely my favourites right now.

Watches have come such a long way, and can do anything now from completing the perfect outfit, to providing a statement of wealth, right the way through to telling you the correct time...(I'm sure some people forget the real reason for a watch)!

I hope you find the information on the infographic as interesting as I did :)

Review: Lancome Cleanser (Galatee Confort) and Toner (Tonique Confort) for Dry Skin

Hey everyone,

Sorry I didn't post much last week, I had so much to get done, but I feel so much better now I'm all organised :)

Today, I wanted to review a cleanser and toner I have been using recently, I received both in a gift with purchase set a few months back. The cleanser and toner are specifically for dry/very dry skin, but I think they would be suitable for normal skin too as they will just give a little bit extra hydration.

I received a 50ml sample of each and I will definitely be repurchasing the full size versions. I love Lancome's cleansers and toners, but I am particularly enjoying these at the moment for their hydrating properties. I can only really review these as a pair because I have always used them together, so I am unable to comment on how they work individually.

The Cleanser - 'Galatee Confort'

'This creamy cleanser is rich in emollients to gently and effectively melt away makeup and impurities. Infused with nourishing milk-proteins, moisturizers and softeners, this instantly-comforting formula leaves skin feeling clean, silky-soft and soothed.'

The cleanser, Galatee Confort retails at £22.50 for 20ml, or £35 for 400ml, which is pretty expensive, but Lancome often have deals on where you get great free gifts when you purchase two items for example, so I always wait until there is a gift with purchase before I stock up on my Lancome goodies.

This cleanser has a very thick consistancy, it feels more like a thin moisturiser than a regular cleanser, it does have a strong scent, but I really like the smell, but cannot describe it to you, as I am useless at that! This keeps my skin so hydrated and my skin feels so nourished and supple after using this, along with the toner.

I use this morning and night and apply it with my fingers then remove it with a cotton pad. I don't use this cleanser to remove my makeup, I use it to follow up after I have removed my makeup with a wipe.

This is such a gentle cleanser and really makes my skin feel better than ever. I will definitely be using this throughout the winter months.

The Toner - 'Tonique Confort'

'A genuine skincare lotion, this silky-soft moisturizing formula is especially adapted to the needs of dry skin. It gently tones and immediately rehydrates the skin while eliminating any impurities, leaving skin perfectly clean, soft and comforted.'

The toner retails at £22 for 200ml or £35 for 400ml, I have used the 200ml bottles of other Lancome cleansers and toners before and they last for months. This also smells lovely and fresh and leaves my skin in tip top condition.

I have never used anything like this toner before, instead of being a water-like consistancy, like most toners, it is much thicker, probably thicker than most cleansers too. Which is unusual but adds to the hydration, a lot of toners I have used before have completely dried my skin out and stripped it of all its oils, but this one does the opposite.

My skin has never felt so healthy and hydrated. So much so that, when I stopped using this and the cleanser for a few weeks and went back to using it one evening, the next morning my dad actually said to me 'what have you done to your skin? it looks so different and healthy'. My dad would never comment on anything like that, he can't even tell when I have a full face of makeup on to when I haven't, so it must really make a difference to my skin!

When I use this in the evening, my skin still feels so hydrated and smooth in the morning, its like I have just applied a moisturiser. I apply this toner by squeezing some onto a cotton pad then sweeping it all over my face.

Overall, using these has improved the quality of my skin so much, before my skin was very lack-lustre and dry, now its completely different, its so smooth and just generally a lot healthier. I really noticed the difference when I stopped using it for a few weeks.

Review: Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment - My Miracle Blackhead/Blemish Treatment Mask!

Hey everyone,

I received a sachet sample of Glamglow's Supermud with an order I placed at HQ Hair months ago, and I finally got around to using it, and absolutely loved it. I knew I had to order a full size pot, but then I saw the price...£39.99! I just couldn't justify spending that on a face mask, with only 17 applications. A few weeks later, I was on HQ Hair (again) and noticed they had 25% off the entire Glamglow range, so £29.99 was a lot more bearable, so I took the plunge and ordered it and I am so glad that I did.

So, Glamglow Supermud, for those of you that don't know, is a face mask that is suitable for both men and women, and is aimed at blemish prone skin. I bought a 30ml tub, which as I said above, has about 17 full face applications, or 1,000 spot treatments. When I use this facemask I only apply it very thinly on my nose, cheeks and also on my chin, as these are the only places I am ever likely to get blemishes and I don't see the point in wasting it on areas that aren't blemish prone.

They say you should use this face mask 2-3 times a week, or as often as needed. I use it about once every two weeks and that is enough for my skin! I don't have really bad skin, I never really have more than three spots on my face at any one time, and that's not all the time, but I do suffer with blackheads on my nose, that I thought were impossible to get rid of, until I tried Glamglow.

My Fiance noticed my skin looked so better and he was extremely impressed, so much so that he has asked for a tub for his birthday. My Fiance is very masculine (most of the time..) and usually wouldn't dream of using a face mask, but he was definitely interested after he saw the results I had, immediately after my first use!

So, the product comes in an octagonal box which I wasn't expecting but definitely makes it unique. The way this product is packaged does well in making it stand out and I really like how this face mask is presented, the packaging is so modern and sleek.

Not so sure about the 'Hello Sexy' message when you lift off the lid of the box, but I'm not really sure on the word 'sexy' in general, it makes me cringe every time I hear it, haha.

Once you flip up the 'Hello Sexy' panel, you get to the face mask, which is wedged into another piece of cardboard, so that it doesn't roll around in the box. I really like the presentation of this product, you can very much tell that it is high end. There is also an instructions leaflet included, which is folded up under the face mask.

The face mask comes in a little tub, thats made of really thick plastic, its quite heavy and the high end look is definitely continued.

This was how it came, with all the mud seeping out of the sides, I suppose that's why they have the extra protective cap, because it is obviously prone to doing that.

The mud itself is a charcoal-y sort of colour and is quite thick in consistency. When the face mask dries, it turns into a light grey colour. But you will notice, little black dots start appearing all over your problem areas. The black dots/areas are where the oil and nasties are being sucked out of your skin. I 100% believe that to be true, because when I remove this face mask, all my blackheads (and I literally mean all of them) have completely vanished! It literally draws out all the pore-clogging oils and leaves you with beautifully soft skin, it also doesn't dry your skin out or break you out a few days later, like some face masks do.

You can leave this mask on for 5,10,15,20 minutes, depending on how deep you want the treatment to be, I usually go for 15-20 minutes. I then remove the mask with a flannel and warm water. Glamglow Supermud actually smells like liquorice, which I don't like eating, but does smell very nice :)

Now, for a nice graphic picture of how the Glamglow Supermud works:

I can't believe I uploaded this really gross picture, but I had to show you guys what I mean! You can see all the tiny black dots on my cheeks, nose and chin, this is where all my pores are (and where I also suffer from blackheads), you can see they are oily as there is definitely something being drawn out of them to change the colour to black. As you can see under my eyes, above my lip, the face mask is a solid grey colour, because I don't suffer with oily skin in those places, whereas I do have an oily t-zone/chin.

The larger black dots under my lips are where I was having a break out, underneath the face mask was two or three spots, which do not disappear when you take the face mask off by the way! But the mask definitely speeds up the healing process by drawing out and absorbing all the spot-causing nasties to stop a blemish developing in the same place again, which always happens to me!

After using this face mask, my skin is tight, soft and feels so very clean and for the next few days I am virtually oil free on my t-zone and chin, which has helped massively with my blemishes. As I type this, I have zero blackheads/spots, which is the first time I have been able to say that this year! I attribute that to the use of this face mask, but also the use of La Roche Posay's Effaclar Duo, which I will be doing a review on, very soon.

This face mask may increase your sensitively to sunlight, so remember to wear some sort of SPF if its sunny :)

The vast amount of impressive ingredients (Glycolic, Salicylic, Lactic, Mandelic, Pyruvic & Azelaic acids) claim to: improve skin texture, de-clog and minimise pores, help aging skin and skin collagen, help the effects or scarring, fight breakouts, regulate skin problems, help irritations & complications.

The problems that this mask are said to tackle are: pores, problem skin, blemishes, pimples, breakouts, zits, spots, black and white heads, razor bumps & in-grown hairs. Which is an impressive list, although, I'm pretty sure that blemishes, pimples, breakouts, zits and spots are the same thing? Haha.

Anyway, this face mask has changed my skin completely, my skin is actually glowing and is also completely blemish free. I honestly recommend this to anyone who suffers with any type of blemish. I will never stop purchasing this now.

Glossybox October 2013

Hey everyone,

Today is my 100th post! I've enjoyed blogging over the past few months so much and I'm looking forward to bringing you hundreds more posts in the future :)

This morning I received October's Glossybox and this month's theme was 'Dark Romance'. I was really excited for this month's box and had my fingers crossed that they would include a berry toned lipstick as I don't currently have one. I was thinking it would be autumnal smokey eye eyeshadows, dark nail varnishes etc, we received nothing like that in this month's box. I think Glossybox could have done so much better with this box, this box had nothing to do with the theme in my opinion.

I hate to be negative but this month's box left me disappointed and its definitely the worst box I've ever had from Glossybox. I have always been so impressed with Glossybox, but after last month, when some subscribers received a £20 blush or bronzer and others received a nipple balm sample worth £2, I really thought that was incredibly unfair and now receiving this month's box, which I cannot believe we were charged £12.95 for, I am not so hopeful of future boxes.

I know a lot of others feel the same about this month's box, I haven't seen anyone that's really over the moon with this month's box, so I really hope Glossybox will take everyone's feedback into account and create something much better in future months. Also, I really cannot stress how important it should be to make these boxes fair, so I really hope after last month's incredibly unfair box, they don't make the same mistake again when it comes to being fair to their subscribers.

Anyway, here's what I got in my box:

Killer Queen by Katy Perry Perfume Sample

I definitely let out a sigh when I saw another perfume sample, you can pick these up for free in any department store. I really like receiving the 7ml perfume samples Glossybox sometimes send in the cute little glass bottles, they are so much more generous and look lovely on a dressing table.

The perfume is actually very nice though but quite strong, I wouldn't purchase this because I'm sure its one of those scents that would give me a headache. This perfume retails at £29.50 for 50ml, so it is quite cheap and I'm sure a lot of girls will like this scent.

Monu Illuminating Primer

I have received Monu products before in Glossybox and one of the products I have tried was a moisturiser, and I can honestly say, I hated it, so I don't have high hopes for this primer.

I don't use illuminating primers as I prefer a matte look and then I use a highlighter to illuminate the areas I want to be illuminated rather than all over. This retails at £24.95 for 50ml, the sample size is 20ml.

MeMeMe Cherub's Blush Cheek & Lip Tint

We have also received MeMeMe products in Glossyboxs previously and I have also purchased from the brand before, but I was very disappointed with most of the items I have used from MeMeMe, so again, I don't have high hopes for this.

I received a cheek tint in last month's Glossybox, so I don't know why they've put another one in this month. This is full size and retails at £5.50, this is also the only full size product we got in the whole box.

This is the only item they included that I think slightly follows the theme of 'Dark Romance', although I think this is more of a deep red than a berry tone, which would have been more appropriate.

Premae Multi-Vit Smoothie Serum

This does actually sound quite impressive, Premae claims to be the world's first allergen-free brand, so this should be very kind to the skin. This serum claims to be suitable for combination skin and also claims to help combat redness, hydrate the skin and keep the skin matte and shine free.

I think this serum sounds impressive, so I hope it works! This serum is sample sized at 20ml and the full size 50ml retails at £22.50. I wasn't excited to see this in the box, as I prefer to see makeup rather than skincare in my beauty boxes, but I will definitely try this out.

Eva Cosmetics Mystic Diamond Argan Oil

Another strange addition to the 'Dark Romance' theme, a hair oil. This hair oil is a blend of argan oil and diamond powder. It claims that the argan oil will nourish and regenerate your hair, give it volume and prevent frizz, while the diamond powder will give hair a shine like never before.

I do like hair oils/serums, but my hair is naturally quite shiny anyway, so I don't use them often. I really don't see how this fits into the theme of 'Dark Romance' and although I will probably use this, I could think of so many other products I would have preferred to see in this box.

Overall, we received another 1.5ml perfume sample that no one ever wants, one full size item out of five and two brands we have seen several times before.

I really hope next month's box is better, because if it isn't I will definitely be unsubscribing. I'm sorry for being so negative, as I usually love my Glossyboxs and I hate being moany, but I can't help thinking they could have done so much better.

Thanks for reading!
