FOTD: Keeping It Simple

Hey everyone,

Today, I thought I'd do a FOTD post. This is a really simple, quick and easy makeup look for me. 90% of the time my eye makeup involves thick liquid eyeliner, so on days where I can't  be bothered, I just use a bit of black pencil eyeliner on my waterline and for a wash of colour, I use just one eyeshadow. I'm really not good at blending multiple shades, it always just looks like one, so I just stick to one!

So, here's the finished look:

What's on my face?

Benefit Porefessional
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in '1C0 Shell'
Benefit Lemon-Aid
Lancome Blush Subtil Palette in '01 Rose Flush'
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in 'Fair'
e.l.f Mineral Blemish Powder
Lancome Le Crayon Khol Waterproof in '01 Raisin Noir'
Mac Copperplate Eyeshadow
YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Mascara
Urban Decay Brow Box in 'Honey Pot'
Too Faced La Creme Lipstick in 'Coral Fire'

I went for a very simple eye look. I used the Urban Decay Brow Box in 'Honey Pot' to fill in my brows, then I used Benefit's Lemon-Aid to hide all my unsightly veins on my eyelids. I applied Lancome's waterproof khol pencil to my waterline and applied a quick sweep of Mac's Copperplate eyeshadow all over my lids. I finished my eyes with my favourite mascara, YSL's Volume Effet Faux Cils. Nothing compares to this mascara, I refuse to use anything else!

For my lips I used Too Faced's La Creme Lipstick in 'Coral Fire'. I absolutely LOVE this lipstick, its such a gorgeous shade and goes perfectly with a subtle eye look like above. It is perfect for me, as I suffer with really dry lips, its pigmented but not drying at all.

For my cheeks, I used my new Lancome Blush Subtil Palette in '01 Rose Flush'. I adore this palette, it contains a blush, contour powder and a highlight, I used all three to create this look and I am so pleased with the result. I think it looks really natural, but the contour powder really brings out my cheek bones and the blush gives me a lovely healthy glow. It's really hard to photograph highlighters, but that works beautifully too! Definitely one of my favourite purchases all year. It applies like a dream, so easy to blend and looks so natural and effortless.

This is such a quick makeup look and requires hardly any effort! :)

Review: Urban Decay Brow Box in Honey Pot

Hey everyone,

I have been lusting after the Urban Decay Brow Box, not only for the adorable design, but after reading some really good reviews too. Debenhams recently had 10% off, so I decided to take the plunge and buy it for myself in the shade 'Honey Pot'. There are actually two versions, but I liked the design of the older version better and it was also £2 cheaper.

The packaging is really pretty, I like the pattern on the inside of the box, I think that's a really nice touch. This is my first Urban Decay product, I have tried a sample of their 'Big Fatty' mascara before, but really didn't like it, so haven't tried anything since. These retail at £17, or £15.30 when Debenhams have their 10% off beauty events.

The design of the product itself, is really unique. You have a box with a lid and inside is two shades of powder, a large mirror, a mini pair of tweezers and an angled brush for application of the eyebrow powders. There is a also a pull out drawer that contains the wax to set your eyebrows with. I absolutely love the concept of having this little box, you have everything you need in one place and it looks great too! It also fits perfectly in the palm of your hand, which is nice and makes application really easy.

I chose mine in the shade 'Honey Pot' but there is 'Brown Sugar' which contains darker shades. I have light brown hair and the shades in 'Honey Pot' work really well for me.

Here you can see just how tiny the brush and tweezers are against a 10p. The brush works really well, which I was surprised at, but I really like it! The tweezers are actually pretty good too, they just take some getting used to because of their tiny size, but they are perfect for travelling!

Here's a picture of me wearing the lighter shade, I think its a lot more natural than some of my other eyebrow powders/gels, and I really like it. The powders are so pigmented and you don't have to use a lot of product at all. The wax works really, really well too, it keeps your eyebrows neat all day, I also think it helps the colour blend as well.

Overall, I really recommend the Urban Decay Brow Box, the design is gorgeous and the kit itself is perfect for popping in your handbag or for any sort of travel. It looks lovely on, lasts all day and isn't overly expensive, if you purchase one on a Debenhams beauty event day like I did :)

Review: Balmi Mint Lip Balm

Hey everyone,

One of my most used products, is definitely lip balms. My lips are more or less constantly chapped and I am very fussy with my lip balms. A few months ago, I was in Boots and they had a reduced section, which I was very much taking advantage of, and after a bit of rummaging, I found a Balmi. I had never heard of Balmi before and as soon as I saw its unique shape, I was very intrigued (the reduction from £4.99 to £1.50 helped too!).

The packaging is very simple but so eyecatching at the same time. This lip balm has a cooling effect, which really does help soothe sore, chapped lips. It also has an SPF of 15, any SPF is always a welcome addition for me! The packaging has changed recently and Balmi is now cube shaped not round, I prefer the round shape personally. I have noticed a lot of reviews criticising the packaging of the cube version, saying the lid doesn't stay on properly, I don't have that problem with the round version, so I don't know why they changed it!

I love the idea of this lipbalm, the little ball has a tiny key chain on it so you can attach it to your purse, keys etc. You literally just twist the top and inside the lip balm is dome shaped, which makes application so easy as it more or less covers your whole mouth in one quick swipe. Mint green is one of my favourite colours, so I really love the colour of the packaging too, although each flavour has a different colour.

This one is mint flavoured, the flavour is definitely not overpowering which is something I really don't like in lip products. The consistency of the lip balm is perfect, not too waxy and super hydrating. The formula is perfect and I have since ordered another one in coconut flavour.

I think the concept of this is so clever, and as a complete germaphobe, I like that I don't have to touch it with my fingers. Some lip balm pots, you apply the lip balm with your finger, which is a big no-no for me!

As far as I know, you can only get Balmi at Boots, they come in four different flavours; strawberry, coconut, raspberry and mint. You can find them here. They are priced at £4.99 each, which I think is a decent price for a lip balm that will last you a long time :)

Have you tried Balmi before?

Wishlist: Fashion Union

Hey everyone,

Today I want to show you my Fashion Union wishlist, for those of you that haven't heard of Fashion Union they are an online retailer of women's clothing and I have ordered from them many times, they're reasonably priced and offer a great choice of clothing. You can find the Fashion Union website here.

I created this wishlist as part of a competition with e-tail PR, for the chance to win £500 to spend on Fashion Union's website and more details on how to enter, check out e-tail PR's blog post here.

This picture wouldn't add a link, so for free delivery all September, click here.

So, here's what I picked! :)

There was so much to choose from and I was in danger of going a bit monochrome mad, they have so much gorgeous monochrome clothing!

In the end I went for four different outfit choices:

Outfit One:

Black Trilby Hat - I think this is an amazing addition to so many outfits, I've been wanting a trilby for so long and this one is an absolute steal at only £12.
Black Floral Crop Short Sleeve Blouse - This is my absolute favourite item of clothing on the whole website, I'm completely in love with this cropped shirt. At £20, its a very decent price and so very versatile.
Black Skater Skirt - A wardrobe staple for all girls, and at a very tempting price of only £8! Teaming this with any crop top or body would look amazing.
Black Suede Double Buckle Open Shoe - I love these edgy shoes, they're so unique and at £35 for suede shoes, I am very impressed.

Outfit Two:

Khaki Sherpa Lined Parka - It is getting a lot colder lately and this coat looks like the perfect solution to keep me toasty and warm! It looks so thick and cosy. I love that its lined, I get really cold, so a thick lining is so important for me. I think £45 is excellent value for this!
Blue Supersoft Blasted Jean - I really like the colour of these and I don't own any supersoft skinny jeans, but these look perfect. Such a bargain at £22!
Black Flat Pull On Chelsea Boots - I think Chelsea Boots are so effortless and go with pretty much everything, I really like these ones and like them even more for the price of £25.

Outfit Three:

Black Hounds Tooth Jumper - Dogtooth is my absolute favourite print, its complete timeless. It gives so much to an outfit. This jumper is perfect and I think I'm going to have to order this. This is £28.
Black Basic Leggings - I think a pair of black leggings would go perfectly with a nice slouchy jumper. So I picked these as they're very plain and only £5!
Black Cross Over Wedge Shoes - I picked these shoes, not really for this outfit, but because I adore them and could not leave them out of my wishlist! They are £28, which I think is a good price, for such a beautiful pair of shoes :)

Outfit Four:

White Crepe Heart Print Shirt - I love this, its such a gorgeous effortless print but still so pretty. I think this is a bargain for £20, I would probably wear this with leggings, dress it up with heels or dress it down with a denim jacket :)
Wine Woven Skort With Overlap Detail - I didn't pick this to go with the shirt really, but I just really love skorts at the moment and the wine colour of this is stunning. Only £20 too :)
Nude Hidden Platform High Heels - Last but not least, I picked these beautiful towering nude heels, I don't actually own any nude heels, but I think every girl should! For only £25, I love these.

Overall, I love Fashion Union and will definitely be picking up some things I've included on my wishlist :) Their clothing is so reasonably priced, their delivery prices are the best I've ever seen I think and they have 25% student discount currently, which is amazing, but sadly I'm not a student!

YSL Buys: Rouge Volupe Shine 16 and Volume Effet Faux Cils Mascara

Hey everyone,

I have been wanting a YSL Rouge Volupe Shine Lipstick for months! So when I saw there was a glitch on Boots.com from moneysavingexpert.com in one of the forums (Quick! Grabbit While You Can!) where on any two YSL purchases you would receive 2000 Boots advantage card points (£20!) I jumped at the chance and placed an order straight away. It was meant to be any two purchases one to be a product from the Forever range, which is quite expensive, but there was a glitch and it was working on any two purchases!

For those of you that don't use Money Saving Expert or have never heard of it, the name is pretty self explanatory but I highly recommend their forum 'Quick! Grabbit While You Can! as I find so many beauty bargains & offers on there. Basically people just post glitches and offers they have seen usually online, but sometimes in store too. You can find that forum here.

Anyway, back to the beauty purchases! So I had picked out the colour I wanted ages ago in John Lewis, but they didn't have it in stock. So I had wrote it down anyway, I chose number 16 which is 'Orange Impertinent' and there was so, so many beautiful shades to choose from, but I just kept going back to this one. For my second purchase I decided on repurchasing my favourite ever mascara the YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils mascara. I ran out about two months ago and have gone through probably about 10-15 mascaras and sample mascaras and nothing comes close to this mascara. Its just my holy grail mascara, I love it! It lasts so long too, I got this before xmas so it lasted me a good 6/7 months without drying out!

This mascara gives incredible volume and in so little time, you don't have to do 2/3 coats, just the one and your eyelashes look amazing! It is quite pricey at £23.50, but in my opinion its worth every penny, I haven't bought another mascara since using this one and all the mascara samples I have received and tried have gone straight in the bin. I will and always do recommend this to anyone that will listen.

I'm not really a fan of lipsticks, they just dry my lips out completely, settle in all the cracks and cling to all the dry skin. So, when I heard about these being sheer, I thought these would be perfect, as I have no problem with sheer lipsticks or tinted lip balms. These are also quite expensive at £24, but my god are they amazing! I absolutely love this, they glide on beautifully, have a lovely colour pay off and don't dry my lips out at all! I definitely, definitely need more of these. I will do a proper review of this soon, as I feel the need to rave about it in detail.

My points statement confirms the glitch did work and £20's worth of points was credited to my advantage card, wahoo! I was going to post this offer, but within hours of me placing my order, the glitch had stopped working :( So, sorry about that but keep your eyes out for any glitches/offers on Money Saving Expert as I have had three great YSL offers off of there in the past 9 months or so as well as many others.

Its safe to say YSL are really exceeding my expectations and are quickly becoming one of my favourite brands. I have yet to be disappointed with one of their products.

Thanks for reading :)

What are your favourite YSL products?

A Website You All Need To Know About - 'What's In My Handbag' - Chance To Receive Free Beauty Products!

Hey everyone,
Today I wanted to show you a website I recently discovered. The website is called 'What's In My Handbag' and you can find it here. Basically, you sign up and create a profile and every week there will be a chance to be sent a beauty product. On your profile you have a section called your 'beauty cabinet'. This is a place where you add products you currently own or want. You can see mine here.

There's also a section where women show you what beauty products they have in their handbags and they talk a bit about their lives and the beauty products they love. I love this feature and I find out about so many great products from this. Most of the handbags shown belong to well known make up artists or women high up in beauty companies and even some celebrities (Emma Willis and AJ Odudu - Big Brother presenters).
Every week you have the option to register for a 'try'. A try is a product that they have a limited number of to send out to their members. They chose who is eligible for a try from what you have in your beauty cabinet. This week the try available is a Bumble and Bumble Prey Spray. From what I have seen, all tries are full size products. I have seen in recent weeks, a Benefit bronzer, Clarins Instant Light Perfector Lip Balms and a travel Tangle Teezer. The Tangle Teezer Compact Styler was something I was very kindly sent, after having trouble registering for the try and emailing them, they replied saying they would be sending me one! :)

I absolutely love Tangle Teezers, I swear by them ever since I've had really long hair, I will not use anything else. I do like this compact version, its so much more appropriate for my handbag than the original version. The cover protects the teeth on the brush and thats perfect for when its getting thrown around in a bag. Its quite a bit smaller than the original Tangle Teezer, so I only really use it on-the-go as there's so much of my hair, I need quite a big brush generally. This retails at about £11, so I'm really happy I was sent this!

I couldn't recommend signing up to this website more, its free, you have a chance to be sent amazing beauty products...what are you waiting for? :) The customer service is amazing too!

Have you signed up to WIMH?

My Most Exciting Haul EVER: American Beauty Products BIG Haul Including Tarte & Lorac!

Hey everyone,

So, a while ago I was looking to get a Tarte blusher, after reading so many rave reviews about them. I finally came across a site that stocks Tarte Cosmetics and ships to the UK and they're called Blush.com. I managed to get 25% off my total order and ended up getting quite a lot for my money, but then the parcel arrived with a pretty hefty customs charge of £73, ouch. So, if you do decide to order from this company, please be aware of that!

This is everything I got :D

Free Gifts:

These were the free gifts I got with my order; a pair of 'Not Too Tights' tights, First Aid Beauty Dual Repair Eye Cream (10ml sample), Alchimie Forever Brightening Moisture Mask (2ml sample sachet) & Dremu Oil Serum (3ml sample).
Dremu's Oil Serum's predominant ingredient is an oil derived from Emu birds. I'm not really sure how I feel about that, haha. 15ml retails at $49 and Oprah is apparently a fan of their products, so I really hope I don't like this because there's no way I can afford that price tag!

Lorac:

Lorac Cosmetics seem really popular in the US and I really didn't know what to try, so I thought this little set would be a perfect way to try them out. It includes; a baked bronzer, three powder eyeshadows, a lipgloss and a body bronzing luminizer.

The powder eyeshadows are in the shades; 'Costa Rican Coffee' which is a really dark brown matte, 'Barbados Bronze' a shimmery bronze and 'Tahitian Sand' a shimmery iridescent light gold. They are all super pigmented and so soft, I especially like Costa Rican Coffee.

The baked bronzer in 'TANtalize Me' is very pigmented and is quite shimmery but it looks lovely on! The lipgloss in 'Rico' is a bronzey red, not really my thing and is also coffee flavoured, which is far too irritating for me to wear on my lips. Lastly, there is the Body Bronzing Luminizer, which is something I would never use. So, even though I won't use the lipgloss or the Body Bronzing Luminizer, I will definitely use all the eyeshadows and the bronzer :) For $36 (£22.44) then with 25% off, it only worked out to be £16.84!

Eyebrows:

I have been experimenting with eyebrow products and definitely favour the gels to powders and pencils. So when I saw these two I was really excited to try them both as they were both from brands I had never heard of.

The top one is from a brand called 'Osmosis +Colour' and there was three shades available, I chose 'Taupe', this one is quite a bit larger than the other brow gel and cost $20 (£12.47 and about £9.37 after discount). This is also waterproof!

The bottom one is from 'darci by DiCaprio' and is called the Wonder Eyebrow Pod. There was six shades available and I got mine in Cindy, which is suitable for ash blonde hair according to the website. This was $16.95 (£10.57 and around £7.97 after 25% discount) so a very good price.

I am so excited to use these, but really annoyed because I've lost my eyebrow brush, so I'm going to order another one tonight so I can try both of these out!

Lip Products:

Cailyn Cosmetics Tinted Lip Balm in 'Sunburst':

My favourite lip products are tinted lip balms, they're so easy to apply and work well with my forever dry lips. When I saw this, I thought it looked great, I love the design and I think the brush being included is a really good idea.

I got this in '03 Sunburst' and I absolutely love it. The brush is amazing, the colour is a beautiful pinky, coral and it is so, so pigmented. I would never describe this as a tinted lip balm, it is too pigmented. The formula is one of the nicest I've ever used in a lip product and I am so, so impressed. This was $19 (£11.84 and £8.84ish with the discount code I used).

Seriously impressed with this and it doesn't cling to my dry lips, finally I can wear something that is pigmented and bright, that doesn't make my lips look awful :)

Vincent Longo Lipstick in 'Debue':

This was described as a coral pink, it definitely isn't, it's a very natural shade. It is nice and hydrating and slightly glossy, this is definitely a  'my lips but better' product, as I think it is pretty similar to my lip colour :) This was $23 (£14.34 and around £10.84 after the discount code). This is very natural and I actually really like it, it makes my lips look nice and is so hydrating. Really impressed with this one too :)

Pink Holiday Luxury Cream Lipstick in 'Champagne Toast':

A makeup brand entirely dedicated to pink lipsticks? Amazing! With around 21 shades to choose from, it probably took me about an hour to pick one, they were all so nice. But at $25 (£15.59 & £11.72 after discount) each, I had to limit myself to just one, but I would have had them all if I could!
First of all, the packaging is gorgeous! Champagne Pink is also described as a coral pink shade, on application I would say it is the perfect mid pink, I will definitely be doing lip swatches of all of these three lipstick/lip balms because they are all so, so stunning. I am so pleased with these! The formula of this is super hydrating and glossy too, I can't believe I managed to get two lipsticks that don't make my lips look awful! This has a really nice colour pay off and I absolutely love it :)

Tarte Cosmetics:

Finally, I managed to get my mitts on some Tarte products! :)

Tarte Glamazon Pure Perfomance Lipstick in 'Bold':

These were $26 (£16.21 or £12.16 after discount). 'Bold' was described as coral and I would say on application it was a lovely matte coral shade. Application is flawless, it glides on so effortlessly and is very pigmented and guess what? It works perfectly well with my dry lips! I have never had a matte lipstick/lip product that works with my dry lips, so I am so pleased with this. None of the lipsticks I picked wear away on the inner parts of my lips (like the Mac ones and so many other lipsticks have within seconds). This is so gorgeous and completely opaque. I will get so much use out of this one.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Eyeshadow in 'Slate':

Slate is described as a shimmery silver shade, but I would say it was more of a shimmering taupe shade. This isn't really pigmented but it is very easy to apply and looks lovely and subtle on. This was $19 (£11.84 and £8.84 after the discount). I think for that price, this is a really lovely little eyeshadow! I definitely want to try their powder eyeshadows now and will definitely get a lot of use out of this one.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12Hr Blushers in 'Tipsy' and 'Amused':

Finally, I got myself some Tarte blushers! :) These were $26 (£16.21 or £12.16 after discount). These are so highly rated and I couldn't pick just one, Tipsy is always a popular shade so I knew I wanted that one and then I picked Amused as well.

Tipsy is a coral shade and is definitely my favourite of the two, it really works well with my complexion. It has the tiniest bit of shimmer to it, but it makes it works more like a sheen on application rather than full out glitter. This is very pigmented and looks very natural on. I have only tried this out, so I can't talk about how long it lasts, but so far I love the shade.

Amused is a bright pink shade and again is very pigmented, you definitely need a light hand with these. This one is completely matte and also looks lovely on, but perhaps a bit less natural compared to Tispy. So far these blushes completely live up to their amazing reputation :)

Other blushers:

This order included 5 blushers, so I really hope I don't give into temptation and buy any more for a while!

darci by DiCaprio Blush Bouquet in 'Autumn Flower':

This was definitely an impulse buy, purely because of how stunning it looks. This was the most expensive thing I bought at $32.95 (£20.56 or £15.44 ish after discount). It is such a lovely blusher, probably one of my favourites ever, its got such a velvety texture. There are purples, beiges, terracottas and pink shades all included in this beautiful blush. It just gives the most stunning, healthy flush of colour. It has a very slight shimmer, that gives a lovely slight sheen effect on application.

Paul and Joe Face Color G in '002 Nubile':

This is a gorgeous peachy shade and I couldn't resist this! I love the embossed flowers and the  a beautiful pale green compact. I really like Paul and Joe blushers and this shade just really stood out to me. This isn't the most pigmented, so its very easy to create a natural look. The colour is very subtle and although lovely, probably not worth $24 (£14.98, I paid £11.26).

Emani Perfecting Crushed Blush in '915 Cancun Heat':

I only have pressed powder blushers, no loose powders, so this intrigued me! This is a lovely peachy-pink shade and I haven't actually got round to trying this one.

This was $16 (£9.99 or £7.51, I paid).

Other things:

Blush.com Blotting Papers:

These were a complete impulse buy at $3 (£1.87 or £1.42 after discount)! I don't know how good they'll be, but I couldn't resist at that price!

Too Faced Beauty Editor Darlings Kit:

Lastly I got this little kit of samples from Too Faced. Of the Too Faced products I have tried, I really like them, so I have high hopes for this little kit! It includes; Lashgasm Mascara, Shadow Insurance Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer, Glamour Gloss Volumizing Lip Gloss in 'Sexpot', Lip Insurance Anti-Feathing Lip Primer and Primed & Poreless Skin Smoothing Face Primer. This is a great way to try out some of their best rated products and I'm really excited to try them all, especially the face primer.

This was $19 (£11.84 and £8.84 after the discount), an absolute steal for this great little kit in my opinion :)

So, I definitely went a bit mental on lipsticks and blushers, but they're my favourite makeup products to wear and buy, so I couldn't help it :) This is my most exciting haul ever, I discovered some amazing brands and I am over the moon with most of the items I bought. The lipsticks, I am completely in awe of, I've never found a lipstick that I can wear on my dry lips, except sheer lipsticks so I am amazed! My bank account is definitely not happy though, oops!

Thanks for reading!
